Best Places for Nap Time at Walt Disney World

There are many families who will tell you to leave the parks in the heat of the afternoon to go back to your resort for a nap, or a swim, and to relax.  This can be a good idea.  Is it what you HAVE to do? Not at all.  It’s really up to you.

Here are some of our favorite places to nap in Walt Disney World.

For us, our kids have been able to catch their Zs in the stroller while we were in the park.  To us, that was a big plus.  We were able to find some quiet areas to sit, relax, and enjoy a snack while they got their nap in.

Our youngest still hasn’t seen the afternoon parade,

Our kids have been known to nap during parades, but other kids may require more of a quiet and calm environment to sleep. Here are some suggestions.

Magic Kingdom:

The Tomorrowland Terrace seating area is shady, relatively quiet, and has lots of seating.
  • Tomorrowland Transit Authority – The motion alone is enough to lull a little one to sleep.
  • Tomorrowland Terrace Seating Area – Provided they are not setting up for a Dessert party, this is a great out of the way place in the shade.
  • Walt Disney World Railroad – For some reason, our kids would always fall asleep on the Railroad. Take a grand circle tour (or 2) for a relaxing, enjoyable ride.
  • Hall of Presidents – Air conditioning a nice long show make for a good opportunity.

The American Adventure is air conditioned and a perfect power nap length.
  • UK Gardens – When the band is not playing, this quiet garden is a shady spot perfect for a stroller nap.
  • The American Adventure – Ok, I admit, I once took a nap here. So, because of that, I highly recommend it as a place to unwind.
  • Japan – The terrace right outside Teppan Edo/Tokyo Dining is a nice place to sit and take a breather. It might be a pain to get a stroller up there though.
  • Morocco – There is a room that is towards the back of the pavilion on the left called the Fez house. It is a cool, shady area with running fountains that make for good white noise.

Hollywood Studios

The sound of Echo Lake’s fountain is soothing.
  • Echo Lake area – This off the beaten path section of the park tends to be quiet.
  • Outside the ABC Commissary – Grab a churro or a snack from the commissary and let your little one rest.
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid – The darkened theater can make for a good napping spot, despite the musical performance.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Dinosaurs are quiet because they’re extinct
  • Dinosaur Trails – The area between Dinoland and the Dinosaur ride is one of the best places for naptime.
  • Discovery Trails – You could also keep moving while exploring animals on the trail.

Around The World:

We spotted this guy just lounging in Downtown Disney’s West Side.

The monorail and boats are another nap opportunity especially in the afternoon hours when they are less utilized and you can ride them around as long as you like. Get off at one of the resorts and you can relax in the lobby or stroll around the property while your little one is napping.

Do you have any suggestions for a great naptime spot?

I am planning our first trip this June (2015) and have heard that the Baby Centers are nice, air conditioned, quiet places for little ones to nap- they also have diapers & supplies, as well as a nursing area. I believe there is one in each park. My kiddo is 4 so I'm not sure if it would be acceptable for me to take her in there to nap?

Thanks for stopping by. Here is a post that has a lot of info on Baby Care Centers. Inside the baby care centers there are places to feed and change your child, but cribs/pack and plays are not provided. You are not allowed to bring a stroller inside as well. It is a good place to take a break from the parks and even at 4 we would bring our daughter in to use the toddler sized pottys. You could always hang out in the community area and enjoy the movie to get a little peace and quiet.
