Beyond The Parks – Animal Kingdom Lodge

This month, our “Beyond the Parks” series is going to focus on some of Walt Disney World’s best resorts. These resorts have so much to see and do, they are worth a visit even if you aren’t staying there!!

First up, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge!

In the spring of 2001, Walt Disney World opened the doors to its newest and most unique resort, the Animal Kingdom Lodge.  The African-themed deluxe resort features Savannas where guests and visitors can see a variety of live animals grazing from public viewing areas or even their balconies.

The animals alone make this resort incredible and worth visiting, but Disney didn’t stop there.  The resort is amazing in so many other ways as well.

The African theming is beautiful.  The grandeur of the main lobby is simply breath-taking. African artwork and artifacts on display throughout the resort and the subtle touches that Disney is so well known for ensure that there is always something to discover.

Cast Members from Africa add their stories to the tale that Disney is creating here, whether it is simply by sharing an infectious smile with guests, or by inviting guests to share in their culture through some of the resort activities.

Dining

An important part of any culture is its food.  The Animal Kingdom Lodge features some of the best restaurants on property, blending African-inspired dishes with American fare.  Our whole family found something to enjoy while eating here.

In addition to the restaurants, Animal Kingdom Lodge offers lounges and poolside bars.
Nightly campfires are a treat for kids of all ages.

Bella takes her marshmallow roasting very seriously.
If you’ve been fortunate enough to stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, then you know that the theming continues through the rooms and that the service you receive is the same high-quality that you would expect from a Disney Deluxe resort.  There are two amazing pools with splash areas and a playground for the kids.
There’s also a full-service spa and Simba’s Clubhouse gives parents the option of some adult time while the kids have fun in a safe and supervised area.  Guests can also make use of the Zahanati Massage and Fitness center.
But whether you’re paying to stay at the resort or just dropping by for a meal or a look around, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is certainly worth taking a look Beyond the Parks!
What do you think of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge?
