The new live action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast” is about to hit the big screen. Will this tale as old as time live up to the original animated classic? Will there be something in this version that we’ve never seen before? In any event, we’ve been waiting for this day to come for a long time. We’re excited to see how the story will translate into a live action movie.
With the help of some great bloggers, I’ve compiled a list of “Beauty and the Beast” themed foods, crafts and experiences. Whether you’re counting down at home or hitting the road, these ideas will surely get you excited for the movie.
Food
What’s a movie without snacks? First up is the recipe for Gaston’s Tavern’s LeFou’s Brew from The Farm Girl Gabs. Kids especially will love this slushy apple drink.
A New Dawnn created these beautiful Beauty and the Beast Cupcakes. The faker baker in me loves how easy they are to make. They’re the perfect before or after movie treat.
This Beauty and the Beast Freak Shake from See Vanessa Craft is in a word, AMAZING! The giant Beauty and the Beast themed doughnut puts this lemony milkshake over the edge. Yum!
DIY & Crafts
I’m not that crafty when it comes to making clothing, but this Beast costume from Desert Chica is easy enough for me to do. I could see my son wearing this to the theater to see the movie. If you’re running short on time you could always try..
Disney Bounding! I love this Gaston Disney Bound from Disney in Your Day. He may be the villain, but he could use some love. The pieces in this outfit can be easily found in your closet.
The Farm Girl Gabs has tutorial for making a super simple Enchanted Rose Ornament craft. The Enchanted Rose plays such an important part in the film, it would be nice to make a craft in its honor.
We’ve had the pleasure of dining at Be Our Guest on several occasions. It’s just such a beautiful restaurant and the food’s not too bad as well. The stained glass windows and mosaics inspired our Be Our Guest Stained Glass Project.
Experiences
Mommy University has a ton of ideas for Beauty and the Beast inspired experiences. These will help your kids experience aspects of the movie in real life, such as hosting a tea party. Be sure to check out the special events they’ve highlighted especially the Beauty and the Beast Fan Event.
If you’re lucky enough to be at Walt Disney World this week, there’s a ton of Beauty and the Beast things to do. In the Magic Kingdom, dine at Be Our Guest or grab a quick snack at Gaston’s Tavern. Outside you can meet Gaston himself. You can also meet the princess herself and become part of the story at Enchanted Tales with Belle. Then head over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to catch Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage. Lastly, be sure to visit “Walt Disney: One Man’s Dream” to see the Enchanted Rose and Belle’s dress from the film.
Reviews
While some people tend to stay away from reviews before a movie, I like to check them out to see what to expect. Adventures By Katie and Disney Mamas have two great spoiler free reviews that will really get you excited to see the film. Word on the street is that all our burning questions from the original will be answered.
Beauty and the Beast opens in theaters March 17th. Are you excited? Tell us your thoughts in the comments.
