The feeling of fun and relaxation can be felt as soon as you enter The Kartrite Resort. A wave of peacefulness comes over you as you enter the rustic yet modern lobby, designed to bring the outdoors inside. At the same time games are set up throughout the space inviting kids to come right in and play. This combination of relaxation and fun can be seen in all areas of the resort. Here’s how families can experience the best of both worlds.

Fun at The Kartrite Resort

The Kartrite Waterpark

The best part of The Kartrite Resort is their sleek and modern indoor waterpark. It’s always a balmy 84 degrees. Both my kids have different tastes when it comes to waterparks, but each was able to have a blast. My 8 year old spent the majority of his time riding all of The Kartrite’s 4 water slides (with 2 more to come). My 12 year old, who is not a big thrill seeker, frolicked in Kartrite Island, an area with 100 water adventures and slides just her speed. Both kids crossed the “treacherous” Later Gator Crossing, while we all had fun as a family playing water basketball in the Cannon-Ballers section. We wish we had more time to try out the Flow Rider that is also inside the waterpark.

Indoor Adventures

Playopolis

We spent our first night pressing our luck at Playopolis, The Kartrite’s arcade. From claw machines to skee ball to virtual bowling, the kids had fun trying to earn tickets for a prize. Also in Playopolis is a virtual reality experience, laser tag and a 3D movie. Nothing brings siblings closer than a good laser tag battle.

Van Winkle’s Alley

Not too far from Playopolis, is Van Winkle’s Alley, a family bowling experience. We did this on our check out day. It was a great way to spend the morning before hitting the water park one last time.

Carabiners and Scrapeskyer

The fun doesn’t stop after the arcade. My kids got to test their bravery on both the Carabiners ropes course and Scrapeskyer rock wall. The Carabiners included a variety of obstacles at different heights. Unfortunately they both lost their nerve on the zipline portion. But they both reached the top of all three rock walls. It was so cool to watch them climb as the walls lit up around them.

Thanks to The Kartrite, my kids were able to try out all the different indoor experiences. These adventures are available for purchase a la carte. But to make these indoor adventures more affordable for your family, consider purchasing a package. They range from $25-$100 depending on how many adventures you’d like to do.

Activities and Entertainment

Every day, The Kartrite hosts a variety of activities for kids and families. During our stay donut decorating, sand art and crafts were available for the kids to do for a small fee. Each night, they hold a family movie night in the lobby. Parent supervision is required for all activities.

Relaxation at The Kartrite Resort

The Kartrite Water Park

Lisa relaxes on her tube in the lazy river at the Kartrite Resort's indoor water park

You may be wondering why I would mention the water park in this section too. As even less of a thrill seeker than my daughter, I was perfectly content to spend my time at The Kartrite in two very relaxing places. First, Empire Bay, the water park’s lazy river, was the perfect place to leave the world behind for just a little while. The winding river is like a little oasis in the middle of all the action. My second favorite spot was Affinity Springs. With massaging jets and a water temperature of 95 degrees, it was just what my body needed after a long day of playing with my kids.

Cabana

If you want to enjoy the water park in an even more relaxing way, consider renting a cabana. The kind folks at The Kartrite provided our family with a complimentary cabana for the day. Our kids thought they had died and gone to heaven. Each cabana is equipped with:

  • Basket of fresh whole fruit
  • Mini fridge with water, assorted soft drinks and juices
  • Salty snacks
  • Fresh towels
  • 32” HD TV’s
  • Drink and food service

The cabanas include a love seat, two chairs, coffee table, and two chaise outdoor chairs with a small table between them.

Chill Spa

I love spending time with my family, but sometimes mama needs a break. While my kids were getting their last taste of the water park, I sneaked away to Chill Spa. Located on site, the spa offers treatments from massages to facials to mani/pedis. I opted for the 25 minute express massage to ease my aching lower back. Worth every penny.

Concord Commons

Right in the middle of The Kartrite Resort lies Concord Commons, an open and spacious courtyard. Surrounding the area are rocking chairs, tables and benches for those who want to kick back and relax. While parents take a breather, kids can run around or have fun on the playground. Giant checkers and chess games are set up for even more entertainment. It’s also the perfect place to relax with a cup of coffee from The Highline or enjoy a sweet treat from Pop’s.

Concord Commons also includes 2 fire pits that are lit all day long. At night families are welcome to roast marshmallows by the fire. S’mores kits are available for purchase in the lobby for $5.

Spacious Accommodations

We were provided with a Deluxe Two Bedroom Suite with Balcony. Take a tour of our room.

The 324 suites at The Kartrite are designed with both families and luxury in mind. The rooms are spacious enough for each family member to have their own space. Pillow top mattresses and comfy bedding will help you rest easy after a long day of playing.
